Media: OpenCanvas 4

The first finished piece of artwork for 2008. This was a bit of a quickie, in that I started and finished it on the same day. It is also a rare "reflection of my feelings at the time of drawing" piece that I actually felt was worthy of being posted.

It has some similarities in theme and style with my earlier piece "I am the Phoenix", though this one is less triumphant in mood. Also, I find it's very hard to do these somewhat autobiographical pieces, tying myself to the symbolism of the phoenix without provoking a lot of Jean Grey comparisons :)

While I may not have been very happy at the time of drawing, I'm quite happy with the result.
