Muse of Sweet Song

March 04, 2007

Media: Ink, Marker, Colored Pencil

The muse of song, high above the city streets, playing sweet music on an instrument not entirely unlike a violin.

This was a vauge idea bouncing around in my head for a long time, and I finally got it to actually take shape on the paper. I did the lineart and the base colors in marker. Then did all of the detailing and shading in colored pencil. I'm not entirely sure I'm happy with the shading, and I might go back and tweak a few spots. I'm assuming there is some other light source in front of her off-camera. I'm very happy with the color scheme.

The placement of the moon to mimic a halo was intentional. Mostly just because it seemed to fit with the wings, not for any particular symbolism :)

I scanned and saved the original lineart as well, so I might go back and do a digital remake of it sometime.
