Medium: OpenCanvas 4

I've been working on my own little fantasy world-building project. For now the project focuses primarily on the continent of Selvasfarra. Large areas on the continent are covered in dense forests, and this was my attempt at capturing the Selvasfarran forests of my mind's eye.

I included a Selvasfarran unicorn for good measure.

There are a number of things I really like about this piece. First, I'm just generally happy with the scenery. It's been a long time since I've done any extensive settings. I'm extremely happy with the depth... especially the path through the trees in the background.

Finally, I really like the color contrast of the unicorn against the more natural colors of the forests. Selvasfarran unicorns are unusual and rare creatures, and it is hypothesized that they actually originate from another world. So, I wanted to make it stand out from its surroundings and give it a somewhat "alien" look to its surroundings. I also think the lighting and shadows give it an air of mystery to it.

Overall, I'm very happy with this piece.
